5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine
What the hell is that?
Never has there ever been such an experience in my life..
I'm getting goose flesh writing about this.
So!
Summer 1980...The Ziegfeld theatre..seedy NYC...
The movie Altered States..
My cousin Fred and I check out this hyped up special effects movie, and as a kid I wanted to go through the experience Dr Jessup had in the movie.
25 years later I did!
I have been looking online for a while on how to obtain this DMT, I kept on seeing the term "analog research chemicals" so I looked further...
The first site I came across was called "RAC Research Chemicals" (now debunked) so I saw that they had a variety of like 20
different "research Chemicals". In the assortment was DMT or at least the analog version of DMT.. I had to set some. It was too easy. I looked them up in the Better Business Bureau and there was a phone number.. IT WAS 718 !!!.
So I called
And I spoke to the coolest lady in the Bronx who assured me that her "chemicals" were real and would do the trick..
She live a couple of subway stops from me..
TOO CONVENIENT..
FATE!!
T'was meant to be
So I finally meet up and there she was the loveliest 50 something lesbian in a black BMW so warm so awesome.. Someone you immediately want to know and be friends with..
We chatted happily for a while in her BMW blasting some sweet cheezy Dream Trance...
I got the Variety pack..
3 different "Research Chemmy's"
I got my 5 meO DMT...
I did it!
I'll let Chad tell his side first, and after his I'll tell you what I "saw".
Here's how I remember Paul's DMT experience.
Forrest was staying with us when he first moved to NYC and we really clicked as a group, hanging out most nights in the apt. that fall. Somehow we all got fascinated with "research chemicals" – drugs we'd never heard of or tried. We weren't taking them yet, just looking into them. We would all be online at separate computers in our dining room/living room looking up all kinds of psychedelics. Paul had known about this drug called DMT and told us about it.It sounded great. Smoked, it put someone in an immediate intense hallucinogenic high that would just disappear after 3 or 4 minutes. The user would be
limp during the trip so people didn't jump out windows or anything. It's naturally occurring in the brain and very hard or impossible to overdose on. We found all kinds of sites about it, with detailed trip reports and dosage advice. It sounded really extreme and scary but pretty safe from bad trips. The trips had common recurring, and beautiful, visual hallucinations that different users would experience. We became determined. It was understood that Paul would be first. It was his baby. We all wanted to do it (I shouldn't speak for Forrest) but Paul thought of it. Paul found a source. We'd read that it was delicate to light and could be wasted if it got too close to flame. We went crack pipe shopping, and eventually Paul and Forrest figured out how to rig straws to a pipe to make just the right burning mechanism. So then, after obsessing for a couple weeks, suddenly we were ready! Then it was nerve-wracking. Paul's friend Lynn from Florida was staying with us that week. Lynn was great. So easy to get along with that I could ask her to pierce me - she's a piercer – and she did (geesh) and that was that. No weirdness. She wasn't so jacked about watching Paul try this, but she hung out bravely and I appreciated it. EVERYTHING we'd read said this was safe. No overdoses, no scarring bad trips, intense for 3-4minutes then over. But we were nervous. Paul sat next to me on the couch, Forrest stood next to us, and Lynn was watching from the dining room. He took a hit and breathed it out and in about 3 seconds his eyes changed. He was distant, off, then starting to see something that wasn't there. Looking past me he said nervously "Oh baby, this might be too much" then started saying "BABY!" over and over. Almost a chant but emotional. He was pretty scared and working to stay calm. "BABY!" "BABY" got louder and louder "BAAAABEEEE" "BAAAAABEEEEEE". I was Baby. Paul was calling for me but I didn't know how to help him. It was awful. I kept telling him it was OK and he could just relax and watch, and blah blah bullshit because I was really freaked. His voice had a weird feral tone that I'd never heard. I kept yammering to try to calm him while I was twisting my head to see the clock on the DVD player, praying 3 minutes would fly by. At some point he said in a shrill call, sounding amazed and sort of skeptical, "WHAT?!" What IS this?" After about one minute he started to quiet down. The chanting slowed and he sagged back on the couch and starting vaguely touching me. He started pulling at my neck. Not rough, but it was freaky. Forrest and I exchanged a raised-eyebrow glance but I was able to lay his arms down. Forrest walked across the room to Lynn. The wooden floor creaked. Paul didn't seem to notice, but that sound still reminds him of his trip (it was 2 years ago). Lynn and Forrest looked freaked out. Paul melted more into the couch, quiet and breathing nice and deep, then smiling. Face up, big grin. "Mmm……………clickish" he said. He was breathing slowly, his heart seemed OK, he was clearly happy. We were all relieved. He napped there for a few minutes, then slowly woke up. His eyes readjusted to the world and his face kept making little "oh yeah"s as he looked around. He stretched. We got him water, asked if he was OK, did he know where he
was? He nodded back to everything and in seconds was getting sharper. We all looked at each other and almost sort of wanted to laugh, but us spectators were pretty rattled and Paul was pretty fuzzy. His whole trip and nap lasted about 15 minutes and he was back, wide awake. His memory of the trip was vague at first but in an hour he'd pretty much remembered everything he was ever going to. He didn't remember being scared. He didn't remember much specifically. He had no incredible, detailed tales to tempt us with. Forrest and I had seen a lot on our end and it was a little harder to go through on our trips. Forrest smoked a light dose and got a little buzzy for three minutes. I had less success, somehow just too nervous to inhale it right. I couldn't quite get myself to do it. Even as he's totally fine now and even wants to do it again, I don't know if I'll ever get that jones again.
Ready for my "TRYP"
OK so I'm ready to do this...
On my comfy couch, in my comfiest PJ's and slippers, mood lighting, makeshift crack pipe loaded with an accurate dose of "nirvana" (5 meO DMT)
Chad is beside me, Forrest is holding my pipe up and igniting it to accurate specifications...
I inhale like a pro
I let out this mega cloud of sweet smelling burnt plastic
Then..
BAM
The loudest whirl buzz / jet plane engine noise ever heard..
As if I was being transported/teleported to dimensions of the unknown.
I was thrusted toward COLORS..
Colors never seen before by any human..
Florescent metallic pastel shades of the rainbow that cannot be explained, all in a beautiful geometric pattern morphing in the horizon before my eyes..
It was soo unreal I felt as if I was traveling.. moving.. toward this metallic color spectrum.. It was very scary because it was all too real.
It really felt like an experience, a physical experience..
Then darkness and silence and a cool temperature as if I had arrived somewhere and waking up with consciousness quickly coming to realization...
Then I hear it
the clicking..
sort of a form of Frou Frou, a clicky melodic tune was playing so delicately like a concert at the Louvre late 1700's.
The picture was coming clear as if the thinnest membrane of fog was disintegrating before my eyes.
The picture was crystal clear..
A Ballroom.
A dark geometric Harlequin Ballroom..
A dark geometric Harlequin Ballroom IN OUTER SPACE...
I see these GIGANTIC elaborate Chandeliers hanging from nowhere resonating the melodies I am hearing from the most delicate swaying.
I was magical
More magical are the creatures emerging on this Ballroom in outer space, observing me observing them.
These humanoids dressed in elaborate Victorian / Harlequin outfits with asymmetrical flesh protruding through these costumes of the finest treads of the universe.
Triangle flesh faces, and real cone breasts, with Rhombus rippling legs and killer ballroom Victorian dance moves.
I felt as if I was a puppy or a kitten let loose in a club and everyone is smiling and pointing at me as if I was a welcomed unexpected visitor.
I felt special and soo loved, then I was escorted into a huddle of these Harlequiny beings, and I remembered them talking to me...
Making me emotional.
Sharing the most special secrets of the universe..
Mind blowing knowledge that I was not able to mentally handle.
The knowledge was beautiful
Knowing it was an honor!
Then things started to disappear as if it all were layers in a photoshop file.
I hear the clix slowly fading.
That beautiful melody fazing out to the universe.
SSQQUUEEEEEEEEKKKKKKK!!
QQQUUUUUEEEEEKKKKKKK!!
That's the sound that brought me back, which was the sound of Forrest walking across the hardwood floors making one of the boards squeak..
I was a pleasant reminder of reality..
I fell into a deep deeeep nap
When I came around a half hour later I remember saying "was that real"
WAS IT!?
I feel as if it was a unique experience, nothing like a trip with LSD. I really feel that I was transported to a place, another dimension, I feel as if I bent space like a character in a graphic novel...
Crazy?... Maybe.
But I know that I really had a privileged opportunity to know that there really is more "out there"
That experience with DMT changed my life, messed with my mind, and haunted me for months. In a form of the greatest learning experience ever.
I think that I am not afraid to face death when it comes, because I know that something wonderful happens.
Somewhere hiding in my mind are the secrets of the universe.
I still feel fortunate, and when I hear a floor creek at all comes back to me...
That's the sound of the universe..
Silent Creeks....
I'm slowly building up to my next tryp...
Whoa!
